The Chase star Paul Sinha can no longer drive or dance

Paul Sinha is no longer able drive or dance amid his Parkinson's battle and is now more dependent on his husband, he has shared in a an update on his health.

The Chase sensation, 53, was diagnosed with the degenerative neurological disorder back in May 2019, and he opened up about how that has been impacting his day-to-day life.

The quizzer told the Daily Star: 'My Parkinson's means I can't dance anymore.

I couldn't do 'Strictly' or anything like that. And I don't drive anymore.

'Everything is slower in general. To go to an event, I have to wake up an hour earlier than I otherwise would have done.'

The doctor-turned-comedian revealed he wouldn't be able to get by without the assistance of his beloved husband, Oliver Levy, as he he is 'much more dependent' on him than he used to be.

The BBC star said it takes longer to do simple tasks such as getting dressed, but he is grateful for his husband's help. 

Paul clarified he doesn't want anyone to feel sorry for him as he still works 'as hard as I can'.

'With the pandemic and social media, you are constantly aware that other people are having harder lives than you are,' he said.

The comedian said he realised he should not be focusing on feeling sorry for himself as he does what he can to improve his 'quality of life'.

The favourite quizzer added he doesn't brand himself as brave, but certainly 'practical and pragmatic' as he is 'ploughing on' while facing his health battle.

The TV personality explained he has already accepted life will eventually take an even tougher turn for him in the future, but he said he will always to 'look [his] best' because he doesn't want to 'vanish'.

In July 2021, the quizzer admitted his concerns increased when he started to notice he missed things he would have previously known.  

In an interview with Radio Times magazine, the doctor-turned-TV personality said: 'Every time I get a question wrong in a quiz that I used to know the answer to, I think, 'Should I be worried?'

'And then I realise that everybody does it.

I'm just quite pragmatic about it.

'Yes, I'm 51, and I've got Parkinson's - things are going to fall out of my head, things are going to stay in my head,' he added.

Back in March, Paul apologised to fans as he revealed how Parkinson's impacts his behaviour on the ITV game show.

He shared on Twitter to that he was 'chatty' in one recent episode because of his medication.

Paul was seen speaking to the contestants that are trying to beat him and win the prize and host Bradley Walsh.

He wrote: 'A lot of these episodes were when my Parkinsons meds were making me very chatty.

I can only apologise. #TheChase.'

However, fans rallied around to support him, praising him for his work on the show.

One person wrote: 'You are great Paul' while a second added: 'Why you apologising you are giving a lot of people suffering with Parkinsons hope and inspiration.'

A third said: 'I think you're brilliant!

I love your conversation.'

Meanwhile, a separate person added their support, writing: 'Absolutely no need and good on you, you're delightful'.

Paul and Oliver tied the knot during winter of 2019 in front of a small gathering of friends and family.

The year was previously described by Paul as the best and worst year of his life, viva slot138 balancing his newlywed life with the whirlwind of an incurable diagnosis.

Paul, who has been the fourth chaser, known as 'The Smiling Assassin', since 2011, stands among fellow quiz legends Jenny Ryan, Shaun Wallace, Mark Labbett and Anne Hegerty on The Chase.
