Seven arrested in murder probe after man, 34, dies following assault

Northumbria Police were called to an address on Croften Street, in Blyth, Northumberland at 1.15pm on Wednesday following reports a 34-year-old man had been assaulted outside.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, he died as a result of his injuries yesterday.

Officers have so far arrested seven men in connection with the incident.

The force is now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

Detective Chief Inspector Ed Small said: 'We are committed to determining the circumstances behind this incident which has sadly resulted in the death of a man.

'A team of experienced detectives are carrying out an investigation into this incident as we look to ensure anyone responsible is brought to justice.

'We are not treating this as a random attack and believe all those involved were known to each other. Officers will remain in the area to carry out enquiries and offer any reassurance to the public.'
