Australian shoppers can save time searching for 'Special Buys' deals at Aldi by typing the words 'Get Started' into a chat with the retailer on Facebook messenger, a mother has discovered.
An automated 'bot' responds asking for your location and the date of the 'Special Buys' sale you are interested in, then sends through a list of outlets within a 20km radius of your home that have the relevant items in stock.
The bi-weekly offers often see people traipse through multiple stores in pursuit of everything from discounted kitchen appliances to garden furniture, only to find the product they're after has already sold out.
The mother shared the trick in a budgeting group on Facebook, saying it helped her to find reduced hair growth vitamins and other sought-after deals that she had previously given up searching for in-store.

The German-owned supermarket said the feature was developed to make life easier for customers and save them from spending hours hunting for their dream deal.
But despite being listed under the 'Check Stock Availability' section on Aldi's official website, Washington DC the vast majority of people appear to have been unaware of the feature until this week.
'Thank you so much for this great suggestion - it worked for me!' a woman said.
One shopper messaged Aldi on Facebook and received confirmation that the products she wanted were in stock at her local store, but arrived to find they were out of stock.
'That's a great idea , I used it and went to the store where stock was available.... but nothing!' she said.
An instructional video on Aldi's YouTube channel showing customers how to use the Facebook chat feature stresses that stock data is based on what's left when at close of business, and may not accurately reflect what's in store the next morning.
New deals are added to Aldi's Special Buys range every Wednesday and Saturday, with offers on luxury bed linen and children's toys due to be launched tomorrow.
