Mother-of-two reveals she made her family live in a 1945 time warp

por Pablo Chinn (2020-05-22)

A mother-of-two has revealed how she transported her family back to 1945 by banning technology and practicing air raid drills at night during lockdown.

Learning support assistant Lorna Cheesman, from Southampton, decided to teach her children a history lesson they'd never forget by getting them to spend four days living as though they were in 1945.

But William, six, and Poppy, nine, were horrified when they realised hours of screen time would be traded for family-based activities including gardening, wood work, crafts and cooking while dressed in period-appropriate clothing.

After four days living 75 years in the past, Lorna and her husband Chris staged a mock air raid drill  and woke the children in the dead of night, with Lorna revealing: 'Chris turned up the air raid siren on the downstairs Alexa as loud as he could get it, along with the sound of aeroplanes and bombs.'

Lorna said her children were initially excited about the experiment, before realising that they would be banned from chocolate spread and all technology

William and Poppy were initially excited to enjoy the time machine classroom last week and experience life 75 years ago.

But William's delight soon turned to horror when he realised that TV and tablets and his beloved chocolate spread was being given the elbow.
