She took to the West End stage as Shirley Valentine for the first time last week.

And Sheridan Smith was in good spirits as she beamed from ear-to-ear while leaving London's Duke of York Theatre following the one-woman-show on Tuesday night.

The actress, 41, was greeted by adoring fans, who handed her bouquets of flowers and hugged the star.

One woman appeared so overcome with emotion that she broke down in tears upon meeting the actress.

Over 100 admirers showed up after the show, hoping for an autograph and a closer glimpse of Sheridan.

Plenty to smile about: Sheridan Smith was in good spirits as she beamed from ear-to-ear while leaving London's Duke of York Theatre following the one-woman-show on Tuesday night

It comes after Sheridan received a standing ovation from the full house audience after her first performance in the eponymous role on Friday.

Following the show many also took to social media to laud the star and her 'perfect' performance.

Sheridan swapped her on-stage costume for a casual look as she headed out of the central theatre.

She opted for a pair of blue jeans, an oversized black jumper and a long black coat, teamed with a trendy yellow and black cap.

Keeping the glamour, the actress' bright palette of stage makeup remained in tact - complete with an eye-catching red lip.

Her blonde locks were tucked into a bun as they peeked out from under her hat.

Appearing overwhelmed with the support, a massive smile didn't leave Sheridan's face as she waved to fans and gave a thumbs up signal.

And as fans swarmed the area in the hopes of meeting the woman of the hour, she ensured to stick around to greet them.

Sheridan autographed playbills, beamed for selfies and chatted with guests as they praised her performance.

The actress, who has previously won two Olivier Awards, was also gifted several bouquets of flowers, with her team carrying the gifts back to her car.

The opening performance on Friday night was the first of a 15 week run for Sheridan in Willy Russell's play Shirley Valentine.

Shirley Valentine, which was also made into a 1989 movie with Pauline Collins, is a on-woman-show which tells the story of a working class housewife from Liverpool.

The play is the joyous, life-affirming story of the woman who got lost in marriage and motherhood, the woman who wound up talking to the kitchen wall whilst cooking her husband's chips and egg.

But Shirley still has a secret dream.

And in her bag, an airline ticket. One day she may just leave a note, saying: 'Gone! Gone to Greece.'

Shirley Valentine is written by Willy Russell, directed by Matthew Dunster, designed by Paul Wills, with lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound design by Ian Dickinson for Autograph and is produced by David Pugh.
